Nirmala holds a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry from USF.  She worked at Genentech for 11 years where she was actively involved with the South Asian Network (SANG), a diversity networking group. She is now a Project Manager at Kaiser Permanente.

A busy mother of three, Nirmala is serving on the Commission on the Status of Women. She has served on the Burlingame City Planning Commission and was a representative on the Advisory Committees of Lincoln Elementary School, Burlingame Intermediate School, and Burlingame High School. She was also the 88th President of the Burlingame Lions club and serves on the board of Science Guru’s. She co-founded a Fitness Program, Xtrim Bollywood, promoting health and fitness throughout the Bay Area.
